A Week of More "Firsts"

Talia is nearing six months old, and continues to be a very "worldly" baby for her age. Even just this week, our little girl experienced a bunch of "firsts".....

  • Baptised in Alysia's childhood church, St. John's: I suppose that there can only be one baptism, so by default this was a "first" fer Tally! Of course, Alysia already covered all of the baptism details in another blog...

  • First shower/bath in our upstairs bathtub: Talia did not care for being hit with the shower sprays, but she has a blast while sitting in her bumbo in the bathwater. Since the bumbo is lighter, it tends to float in the water like a boat - Talia thought that this was awesome. See pictures of her reaction to both experiences.

  • First trip to a museum: This trip was to see the "Einstein" exhibit at our local center for the arts. I've been wanting to see this since it started in August, and we finally found the time today to go and check it out (it's the last day for the exhibit!). Talia did just fine for the 2 hours that we spent walking around, and she even got her picture taken with the celebrity himself....

  • First daycare experience with other infants: Talia started goign to her permanent daycare this week at In the Beginning. Our daycare provider up until now was only on a temporary basis. Talia chills out every day in the "infant room" with 3 other babies who are all within 1 month of the same age. I'm sure that Talia will want an IPhone soon to call her new friends... ;).
  • First time catching a cold: She developed a stuffy nose on Friday morning, then the full-blown cold later that night. She woke up at ~1:30 in the morning screaming and very upset about her completely stuffed nose. She also didn't care for the nasal spray and aspirator that we used to clear her up.

  • First time seeing a Christmas tree: We picked up our tree yesterday and got the lights put on while Talia napped on Saturday afternoon. Later that night, we held her in front of the tree while she felt the branches and stared tranfixed at it.

Yes, it was an eventful week for all of us. It's hard to believe that the week started with the baptism, then driving 1o hours later that night to get home. The week ahead includes a bunch of holiday parties for Talia to show off at, as well as a visit to her friend Caden's house for Friday night while Alysia and I "hit the town".

Until next time...

- Mike

Such a busy girl she is! I'm sure she'll have a new cell phone before I do!
