Summertime, Summertime!

Talia - 13 Months

Unofficial Stats: 19.6 lbs; NA
TALIA FUN FACTS
Favorite Pasttimes: Mimicking Sounds, Cruising, Pointing, Biking, Reading
Favorite Toys: Water Table, Car, Drum Set
Favorite Word: Dat!
Talia received her 1-year immunizations last week and took them like a champ. She gained a whole pound in 10 days (and we're assigning that to her birthday cake)!
Talia is in the middle of transitioning to the toddler room at daycare. She's been spending parts of each day there for the past few weeks and has recently spent her full day there with the exception of her after-lunch nap. Her teachers say she loves it in the bigger room and enjoys watching the big kids play and cruising around all the new toys. The kids in the toddler room range from 1 - 3 years old, so she'll definitely learn quickly now!
Talia's been enjoying the Michigan summer with Mommy & Daddy. She loves riding in her new bicycle seat and immediately requests a ride when we get home from work:) Her nights typically consist of outdoor play, dinners on the patio, bicycle and wagon rides, and trips to the spray park and playground. What a spoiled girl!

Beach Trip to Tawas

On Saturday, we decided to make a day trip to the beach! We invited Uncle Ben to come along, and packed up the car to venture north to Tawas City. About an hour and a half drive and we felt like we were on vacation. The beach in East Tawas is beautiful. White sand, refreshing water (Lake Huron), the peaceful sound of waves, and a little girl basking in her first experience with sand! Yes - that's sand on her toungue above...... she decided to throw her normal tantrum when it was time for a diaper change. Note: Folding yourself in half on the beach results in sand in the eyes, nose, and mouth.

The quaint lighthouse on Tawas Point.

Talia worked and worked in the sand as if she had a very important job to do. She loved her shovel, but tended to "stick" it in the sand more so than use it to shovel sand. She spent about 1.5 hours on the beach before lunch and naptime, and then another 1.5 hours after she awoke.

Talia destroying Daddy's sand castle!

Yay! When can we come back?

Dat?

Wanted everyone to get a chance to see Talia's favorite activity these days. It starts from the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep. Here's to hoping she's absorbing all the answers to her "A-dat?" question!

7th Tooth!

Tally screamed herself to sleep on Monday and Tuesday night. This is so unusual and we couldn't figure out why she was so upset until this afternoon. Her 7th tooth has arrived - BOTTOM - just right of the front two. Sorry for not understanding honey:)

Talia's First Birthday Party

Mike and I have made a habit of throwing a Fourth of July party at our house every year since we have front row seats to the fireworks from our front lawn. To make this year a bit more fun, we had a combined Birthday Celebration (1 + 30) - and naturally the fireworks were in honor of our birthdays! Talia thoroughly enjoyed her cake........

Hmm... a cake - just for me?

I think I'll start with a blue flower....

I can really eat the whole cake Mommy?

We eventually had to stop the monster, or she would have!

Sugar low:) But not too much to miss the fireworks!

She wimpered for the first few, but then LOVED them!

Happy Birthday baby girl!!!!!

A Visit from Nana & Poppy

Nana & Poppy paid Tally a visit for the past two weeks and spoiled her rotten with trips to the Splash Park, playtime in her water table, Snow Cones, a petting zoo, the playground, walks around town and Dow Gardens, ice cream, and much more! Here are just a few pictures of the fun!
