The Latest Happenings

As you know from Alysia's messages, things have been a bit chaotic with us recently. Alysia is trying to adjust to being immobile, which can be frustrating for her at times. As one example, she frequently needs to change the side that she lays on because her hip becomes sore from laying sideways. Needless to say, she's rediscovered the joy of small handheld electornic games like Draw Poker ... For now, we haven't caved in and bought a Nintendo DS....

The good news is that everything is OK with Alysia and the baby, as evidenced below. Alysia is finally starting to "round out" in the stomach, and the length (fundal height for you technical types) is much more noticable. This is the belated "Week 27" picture that we're just now posting.

One of the nice outcomes of visiting the hospital last week was an unplanned ultrasound picture of the baby. Once again, the ultrasound technician commented on how active our baby is.

Our visit to the doctor today confirmed that everything still looks great despite the occassional early contractions. The doctor thinks that Alysia may be able to back off from strict bed rest around Week 29 or 30 if the contractions are still relatively tame and the cervix still looks good.
On a funny note, we observed that I'm still eating bigger portions than Alysia. Earlier this week, we decided to have a small "snack" in the middle of the afternoon. Alysia asked for a banana with peanut butter spread on top (????), but unfortuately we only had 1/2 a banana left. When I brought out our "snacks", we thought that the contrast in portion sizes was too funny not to document. I'm fairly sure that my "snack" was really a full meal for most normal people...
